Conditioning and work capacity training. Functional stations, running, and strength — programmed properly. Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

Rowing machines, ski ergs, sleds, sandbags, wall balls, and running. Programmed across three sessions a week to build real conditioning — not just fitness you only have inside a gym.

Engine is The Coalface Gym's conditioning and work capacity track. Every session combines functional station work and running in a structure that builds over time. Not random hard workouts — a program with a purpose.

Coached every session. Scaled to where you're at. If you've done HYROX-style training before and want to keep it going, or you just want serious conditioning without a race to train for, Engine is where you do it.

What a typical class looks like

Every Engine session is different, but the format stays the same — warm-up, then one longer conditioning piece combining running and functional stations. You'll always know the structure walking in, even when the workout itself changes.

Briefing

The coach runs through the day's workout, pacing tips, and any movement adjustments. If you're new, they'll welcome you to the group so you don't have to do it yourself.

Warm-up

Designed to get your body ready for whatever's coming. Specific to the session — not just a jog and a stretch.

Conditioning

One longer conditioning piece combining running and functional stations — ski erg, sled push and pull, rowing, sandbag carries, wall balls. Work through the stations, run between them, and push the pace where you can.

Fist bumps

Once everyone's finished, the fist bumps come out. Acknowledgement that the work sucked, but you all got through it.

$129 gets you four weeks of full access — every class, two recovery sessions a week, and open gym access from 4am to 10pm. No joining fee. At the end of four weeks you roll into Unlimited, or cancel before that. No awkward sales call, no passive-aggressive follow-up texts.
